About the Role
We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team of cloud professionals. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure and scalable infrastructure solutions across both on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments.
You will lead the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects, ensuring high availability, security, and performance through best practices in virtualisation, storage, identity, and automation. You’ll also be a key escalation point for complex issues and play a vital role in mentoring junior engineers and shaping our cloud strategy.
Salary Range: $160,000 – $175,000 per year
What You’ll Be Doing
Design & Architecture
- Develop scalable, resilient cloud solutions in Azure aligned with business needs.
- Drive architecture best practices focusing on performance, cost-efficiency, and security.
Deployment & Automation
- Implement and manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Performance & Optimisation
- Monitor infrastructure performance, optimise resource usage, and reduce operational costs.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce cloud security policies, conduct security assessments, and ensure alignment with frameworks like ISO 27001, Essential 8, and NIST.
Support & Incident Management
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for critical cloud issues and implement robust disaster recovery solutions.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain thorough documentation and support knowledge-sharing across the team.
- Mentor junior engineers and stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies.
About You
You are a technically strong engineer with a passion for cloud innovation and security. You thrive in complex environments and take pride in delivering high-quality, scalable infrastructure solutions.
Key Skills & Experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Azure, including IaaS & PaaS services.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, Essential 8, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation, and Azure DevOps.
- Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Perl.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts – VPC, VPNs, subnetting, and load balancers.
- Experience with containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with SSO, IAM, system hardening, patch management, and logging/monitoring tools.
Certifications (Highly Desirable)
- AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associate
- AZ-500: Azure Security Technologies
- SC-100: Cybersecurity Architect
- SC-200: Security Operations Analyst
- SC-300 / SC-400 (Identity & Compliance)
- AWS Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional (Desirable)
Education & Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to maintain a security clearance.
