Willyama Services began in 2016 in a small room behind a bottle shop. Founded by Kieran Hynes, the company was built on a straightforward goal, to create meaningful opportunities for people.
The name Willyama carries significance. It was the original name for the area now known as Broken Hill, and it reflects both personal and cultural heritage.
Kieran’s great-great-grandfather served as Mayor of Broken Hill three times during World War I, a period marked by global upheaval and local resilience. His father also contributed to the town as Deputy Town Clerk. Kieran also grew up in Broken Hill, strengthening a family connection to the region that spans generations.
There are records indicating that Willyama once referred to a much larger area, possibly all of western New South Wales.
The company’s logo, a continuous, connected circle, represents this respect for place, heritage, and the idea of interconnectedness. Also featuring the Sturt Desert Pea, a native flower of Broken Hill.
Choosing the name Willyama was not just about honouring the past, it was about building a company grounded in values, connection, and a deep respect for community.
